Terms of service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Jen Built It LLC ("we", "us", "Resume Prune") and govern your use of the Resume Prune website, software, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, paying for a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The service

Resume Prune accepts a resume and a job description that you provide and uses third-party large language model providers (currently Anthropic) to produce a tailored resume, a cover letter, and a match analysis. The Service is offered in two tiers: a free sample (limited use, no account required) and a paid Pro subscription. Specific feature lists, prices, and usage limits are shown on the Service and may change from time to time.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements. The Service is offered only where lawful. You are responsible for compliance with any laws that apply to you, including export controls, employment laws, and laws governing the disclosure of personal information.

3. Account registration and security

To access Pro features, you must create an account using a valid email address and a password of at least ten characters. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us at privacy@jenbuiltit.com immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that show signs of compromise or fraudulent activity.

4. Paid plans, billing, and cancellation

We currently offer two paid plans, billed in advance through Stripe at the price shown at signup:

• Sprint: $9 USD per week, includes 20 tweaks per 7-day billing period. Designed for active job hunts. Cancel anytime through the customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current weekly period.
• Pro: $14 USD per month, includes 40 tweaks per calendar month. Designed for ongoing tweaking. Cancel anytime through the customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current monthly period.

Additional billing terms apply to both plans:

• Unused tweaks do not roll over.
• You authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method on each renewal date until you cancel.
• All fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Partial periods are not prorated. We do not offer refunds for unused tweaks, account inactivity, dissatisfaction with output, or for any inability to use the Service caused by issues outside our control.
• We may change prices and limits with at least 14 days' notice to active subscribers. Price changes apply to the next renewal.
• Failed payments may result in suspension of paid features. We may attempt to recharge your payment method as permitted by Stripe.
• We may also offer one-time purchases such as a self-host template ("DIY") under separately stated terms at the time of purchase. Those terms are in addition to these Terms.

5. Free sample

The free sample is offered as a courtesy and is limited to two uses per email address per 30-day period. We may impose additional limits by IP address, email domain, network, or other signals to deter abuse, and we may require completion of a bot-prevention check (such as Cloudflare Turnstile) before generating output. We may withdraw, change, or restrict the free sample at any time, for any reason or no reason, without notice. The free sample is provided strictly "AS IS" and the disclaimers and liability limits in these Terms apply with full force.

6. AI-generated output and your responsibility

Important. Please read carefully. Resume Prune uses generative artificial intelligence to produce its output. Generative AI is probabilistic, not deterministic, and can produce content that is inaccurate, inconsistent, biased, outdated, or otherwise unsuitable for your purpose. Examples include, without limitation: misstating dates or job titles, omitting relevant experience, paraphrasing in a way that changes meaning, generating phrasing that resembles other writing, or producing factually incorrect statements (commonly called "hallucinations").

We use prompts and other measures designed to instruct the model to base its output only on the resume content you provide and to avoid fabrication. We do not, and cannot, guarantee that the output will always follow those instructions, will be accurate, will be free of errors, will be free of bias, will be appropriate for any particular job application, or will be unique. The output is offered as a drafting aid, not as legal, career, or professional advice and not as a final document.

You agree that:

• You will carefully review every piece of output before sending it to any employer, recruiter, platform, or third party.
• You will correct any inaccuracy, omission, fabrication, or unsuitable phrasing before use. The final document is yours and you are solely responsible for its content.
• You will not represent the output as having been written without AI assistance if you are required to disclose AI use.
• Any decision based on the output, including hiring outcomes, is yours alone. We are not your career advisor, recruiter, attorney, or agent.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Submit content that is not your own resume or that you do not have permission to submit.
• Impersonate another person, fabricate credentials, or commit fraud against any employer or platform.
• Generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or that infringes the rights of others.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract our prompts, models, or training data.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its output beyond your own personal job search, except under a separately written license with us.
• Send malware, run automated requests outside the documented API, circumvent rate limits, or place undue load on our systems.
• Use the Service to violate the terms of any third party we rely on, including Anthropic, Stripe, Cloudflare, and Resend.

We may suspend, throttle, or terminate access for any actual or suspected violation of this section, with or without notice, and we may report violations to law enforcement when we believe it is appropriate.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the resume text and any other content you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, transmit, process, display back to you, and otherwise use Your Content solely for the purpose of operating, securing, and improving the Service for you. You also grant us permission to send Your Content to the AI providers we use so they can process your request.

You represent and warrant that Your Content is accurate, that you have the rights necessary to submit it, and that submitting it does not violate any law or third-party right. We may remove content that we believe violates these Terms or applicable law.

9. AI provider terms

The Service depends on third-party AI providers that operate under their own terms and privacy policies. By using the Service you also agree that your input may be transmitted to these providers strictly to fulfill your request. We do not knowingly send your content to any provider for the purpose of training their models, and we configure provider settings consistent with that intent where the option is available. We are not responsible for changes a provider makes to its service, including model availability, output quality, or privacy practices.

10. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its software, code, design, brand, copy, prompts, and the structure and arrangement of its features, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the Service for your personal job search during the term of your subscription or free use. Output generated for you is yours to use for your personal job search, subject to these Terms.

11. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. You acknowledge that the Service requires us to process the data you submit and that we cannot operate the Service without that processing.

12. Service availability and changes

We do not guarantee any specific level of uptime, performance, or feature continuity. The Service may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, third-party outages, force majeure, or any other reason, and may be modified or discontinued at any time. We are not liable for any loss or damage that results from any such unavailability or change.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service and all output are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your needs, that hiring outcomes will result, that defects will be corrected, or that the output will be accurate, complete, current, secure, or free of viruses or harmful components.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, business, goodwill, employment, or hiring opportunity, arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose.

Our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, regardless of the form of action, will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of these limits may not apply to you. In that case, our liability will be limited to the smallest extent permitted by applicable law.

15. Indemnification

You will indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Jen Built It LLC and its members, agents, contractors, and service providers from and against any claims, demands, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to (a) Your Content, (b) your use or misuse of the Service or its output, (c) your violation of these Terms or any law, and (d) your violation of the rights of any third party, including any employer, recruiter, or platform that received output you generated.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from the Account page. We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including suspected violation of these Terms, non-payment, or risk of harm to us or our users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including sections on Your Content, intellectual property, disclaimers, limits of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Illinois, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

You and we agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting privacy@jenbuiltit.com with a written description of the dispute and a proposed resolution. If we cannot resolve the dispute within sixty (60) days, the dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Illinois, and you and we consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts. To the extent permitted by law, you and we each waive any right to a jury trial and any right to participate in a class action or representative proceeding. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in court for infringement of intellectual property rights.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice, such as by email or by a notice on the Service, before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the changes is your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

19. General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will stay in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and replace any prior agreement on the same subject. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
